Here are the answers to some questions we've received over the past week. We try to answer on this page at least twice a week. Looking forward - thanks for watching!
Why are you all wearing white shirts?
MOSHE - The set was to celebrate my Bar Mitzvah! We dressed appropriately.
Why is your father singing the words to a song in a song contest?
AVI - Originally, there were about six spots that we were going to sing - and it didn't give away the song name. When we recorded the set, no one was in the mood of actually singing. The good news was, that most of the spots were common songs so Yehuda, BZ, and Mordechai played the songs by air (without the notes). The one my father sang was a song we didn't actually know since it's old. My father would either have to sing or play it on the bass guitar which isn't a lead instrument. He chose to sing.
Why does everyone look so serious, especially the drummer?
BARUCH - It was a hard set to play. You'll notice that we're reading notes the whole time from the iPads, and even though we practiced the set a bunch of times, it was very hard. I had an especially difficult time since I had to play non-stop, and clicking to the next page on the iPad was tricky. I'll try to look happier next time :-)!
Is Avremi actually doing anything?
BZ - Absolutely! Without him, we would've really had issues. He helps by guiding us, and letting us know when to come in. Although it's tricky to read notes and follow Avremi, it gets easier with practice.
Where is this taking place?
BZ - In Playmaster's Studio in NJ. Yaakov Shwekey, Mordechai Shapiro, Yanky Lemmer and many other famous singers and musicians record there. It's run by Ian Freitor and Daniel Kapler who are both fantastic.
How come sometimes you're talking or singing and we can't hear you?
Mordy - The only one with a vocal microphone was my father, and it was turned off after he sang that one part.
Do you all have iPads? How do you turn the page?
BZ - We do all have iPads Pro which are the large ones. When we're all reading the same sheet music, I can control everyone's iPads to turn the pages at the same time. In this set each of us had different notes since it was arranged by Avremi. We had to turn the pages by tapping the right side of the screen.
When did you switch to a 5 string bass?
Dad - I was still learning with a 4-string, and then Avremi wrote me notes that had to be on a 5 string, like a low "D". I got the 5 string, but kept thinking the low string was an "E" which made for some weird sounding practices. I'm still learning.
What happened to Batsheva's violin?
Sheva - I switched to guitar 2 years ago, right after the intro set. The violin was so hard, and I wasn't practicing enough to actually get better. Guitar is easier because I get lessons from Scott and Avi helps me a lot.
What's the high pitched instrument at 3:13 that plays 4 notes? It sounds like an electric keyboard? Who's playing?
Moshe - That's me on the flute, and you can actually see me playing it to the right. I was actually supposed to play all 8 notes, but it was too high for me. Here's a picture of what it looked like on the sheet music.

Why aren't you all wearing headphones? Wasn't it so loud?
Yehuda - It was sooo loud! Avremi wore earplugs, but we were uncomfortable wearing over-the-ear headphones. The in-ear ones that bands use are super expensive.
What did Avi tell Baruch that made him smile? The whole thing starts at 9:55 and takes place for over 10 seconds? What happened?
BZ - I don't know, but I'll ask them. Avi has a habit of making Baruch laugh during videos. Check out this video from Avi's Bar Mitzvah. Baruch was laughing at something Avi did, but it was private.
